Healthy Peninsula
Who We Are
Our Mission
Healthy Peninsula supports healthy communities by providing leadership and guidance to organizations and community groups on the Blue Hill Peninsula, Deer Isle, Stonington, and Isle au Haut. We provide resources and technical assistance to prevent chronic diseases and promote public health, and wellness. We partner with others to ensure community ownership and sustainability.
Our Values
Healthy Peninsula's activities and accomplishments reflect the following core values:
• Each community has the innate ability to reach its own health goals - communities "own" and sustain the work;
• We build our local community assets to address community needs;
• Collaboration is key to our work - we work in partnership with local community groups and organizations; and,
• Our efforts reflect a science base and use national standards of best practices in public health.
Partnering for Your Health
Healthy Peninsula partners with community groups to promote healthier living. Some of these groups and organizations include local land trusts, schools, health care and complementary providers, municipalities, businesses, and faith communities. For more information about these groups, please Contact Us or see our Links To Our Partners webpage.
Healthy Peninsula is fiscally sponsored Child and Family Opportunities. Healthy Peninsula is funded through the Fund for Healthy Maine, under the Maine Center for Disease Control. Our collective goal is to reduce the incidence of chronic disease and to improve the quality of life for all.
