History of Brooksville

The town was once five distinct villages, each with post office, school, church and store. Its economy has been variously driven by farming, fishing, copper mining on Cape Rosier, a granite quarry, saw mills, grist mills and tourism. While no longer arriving by steamboat, tourists continue to play a role in the local economy, as does shoreland property development.
